Funeral Services for Artie Lu Shaw Kent, 75 year old Leonard resident, are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday December 18, 2012 at the First Baptist Church of Leonard. Rev. Denny Gorena and Charles Wrenn will officiate. Burial will be in the Leonard Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday December 17, 2012 at the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel in Leonard.
Mrs. Kent was born September 21, 1937 in Greenville, Texas. Her parents were Artie Homer and Eula May Fenter Shaw. She graduated from Greenville High School and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Leonard and the Eastern Star. She married E.B. Kent March 30, 1956 at Durant, Oklahoma and she worked in Customer Service for the Continental Telephone Company. She passed away at her home Sunday December 16, 2012.
She is survived by her sons: John Kent of Leonard and David Kent of Lake Kiowa; her daughter: Cindy Kent of Leonard; her sister: Jackie Kent of Leonard; her 8 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, 8 nephews and 5 nieces.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters: Jan Sims and Shirley Farmer and her brothers: Mike, Don, Elton and Avon Shaw and a niece: Karen Farmer McClain.
