Arthur Barter, age 73, of Allen, Texas, passed away May 5, 2015. Art was born August 12, 1941, in Somerville, Massachusetts, to Arthur Harold and Marjorie A. (Short) Barter. He married Cynthia Allen on November 25, 1993, in Plano, Texas. Art proudly served in the United States Navy. He was always proud of his grandchildren and they had a special place in his heart. Art loved riding his motorcycle, golfing, and sailing. He was a true New England sports fan especially the Patriots and the Red Sox.
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Barter of Allen, Texas; daughter, Catherine Atamian and husband, John of Naples, Florida; son, Joey Turner and wife, Emily of Plano, Texas; grandson, John Atamian; granddaughter, Emma Turner; brothers, Robert Barter and wife, Sue and Alan Barter and wife, Joyce, all of Florida; sister, Beverly Rainville and husband, Norman of Florida; sister-in-law, Gerrie Barter of Waltham, Massachusetts; Uncle Bob Short and wife, Laura, also of Waltham; first wife, Marilee Florence of Florida; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jerry and Mary Ann Allen of Plano, Texas; brother-in-law, Jerry Allen, Jr. and wife Judy of Waco, Texas; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Rick Barter.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, May 23, 2015, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Faith Presbyterian Hospice or the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
