Arlis Bridges

Arlis Bridges of Fairview, Texas passed away October 25, 2014 at the age of 82. He was born May 7, 1932 to Olen and Leona (Burns) Bridges in Childress, Texas. Arlis spent the majority of his life as a longtime resident of Amarillo, Texas. He served his country proudly in the United States Air Force and the United States Navy and received an honorable discharge and was a disabled veteran. Arlis married Pacita Corre Valbuena on June 20, 1966 in Olongapo, Philippines. He worked at Bell Helicopter for thirteen years after which he owned his own business for twenty-two years. Arlis was a Mason and a Shriner and a member of the VFW.  

He is survived by his wife, Pacita Bridges of Fairview, Texas; children, Alan Villena and wife Rhodora of Amarillo, Texas, Mary Irwin and husband Larry of Fairview, Texas; Arlis Bridges, Jr. and wife Amanda also of Amarillo, Texas; nine grandchildren; and siblings, Clemon Bridges, Laverne Richardson, Wanda Clements, Janie Smith and husband Joe Dean, Jimmy Bridges, Linda Van Ausdall and husband Gary Donald and Marilyn Slape and husband Robert.

Arlis was preceded in death by his parents.

A graveside service will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 1, 2014 at Llano Cemetery, 2900 S. Hayes, Street, Amarillo, Texas 79103. The family will receive friends during a visitation Thursday, October 30, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
