IN LOVING MEMORY

Arline Mayme Wieden

Feb 15 1928 - Dec 22 2009

Mrs. Arline Mayme Wieden, age 81, of Allen, Texas passed away December 22, 2009. She was born February 15, 1928, in Portland, Oregon to Melvin and Rosalie (Hendrickson) Barthlow. Mrs. Wieden was preceded in death by her husband, James Gordon Wieden, whom she married May 14, 1949, in Portland, Oregon. Arline left this earth after living over 3 years with a rare form of cancer. With a positive attitude and a beautiful smile, Arline was a gift to her family and friends. Her true love, husband James Gordon Wieden taught her to love unconditionally, snow ski, hunt, fish and enjoy nature. Before she left Arline said, “I am off to explore a new adventure!” Her daughter Tanis Wieden Coughlin and son in law Michael Richard Coughlin of Allen, Texas enjoyed sharing their home with her. Arline gained great strength from Jeffrey T. Bowman, her spiritual son, sister Phyllis and brother in law Donald White, niece Judy Fisher and family and the entire Wieden clan and their families, sister in law Shirley Raguse, all of Arline’s wonderful Grand God children and special Great Grand God children made her smile. Her incredible friends in Oregon and around the world and her Texas family were there for her until the end. Arline was a great example of living with dignity and grace, showing us how to work hard, love true and live life to the fullest. Attending Jefferson High School, she went on to work at Morrison and Bailey Law Firm, she interpreted for the Deaf and Blind through the Oregon Legal System, for Mt. Hood community College and her community. Arline taught sewing and was an artist who created beautiful works of art. She loved traveling, exploring different worlds of art and studying human behavior. Arline volunteered for The Smart Program, Oregon Trout and Urban Tours of Downtown Portland, she taught art to First Graders in Dallas, Texas. Our thanks to all of you who were there for us and to the brilliant Doctors and Staff at University of Texas SW Medical School and to the angels of Grace Hospice. In lieu of donations Arline’s wish was, “for you to please spend more time loving and helping your family and friends.” She is survived by her daughter, Tanis Wieden Coughlin of Allen, Texas; her spiritual son, Jeff Bowman; sister, Phyllis White and niece, Judith Fisher. Her parents Melvin and Rosalie Barthlow and husband James Gordon Wieden preceded her in death.
