Arlene Miller Johnson died of natural causes on March 5, 2017 in her home in Dallas, Texas. Anyone who knew Arlene, understands how much she loved her home full of photos and memories.  She was born August 4, 1931, in Ballinger, Texas, to Charles Stonewall Miller II and Nettie Routh Sledge Miller.  Arlene remained in close contact with her childhood Ballinger friends all of her life. 

Arlene attended Tarleton University in Stephenville, Texas for a short time and eventually settled in Dallas, Texas where she enjoyed working at ClubCorp for a few years.  Arlene was a devoted Christian and loved her children dearly.  She enjoyed painting, sculpting, ceramics, sewing, knitting, cooking and her little Yorkie named Cinnamon Toast.  Arlene was a long-time member of Prestonwood Baptist Church.

She is survived by her son, Charles Burns Barnett of Carrollton, Texas; daughter, Rebecca Carol Bender of Celina, Texas; sister, Charlotte Northington and husband, Bob of Dallas, Texas; nieces, Karan Thetford, Kathy Clements, and Lana Kovner; step-grandson, Robert Bender, Jr., wife, Lori, and step-great-grandchildren, Kyle and Katie, step-granddaughter, Bonnie Snody, husband, Larry, and step-great-grandson, Cole.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Douglas Johnson; daughter, Linda Kay Barnett; sister, Louise Miller; brother, Charles (Bud) Miller III; the father of her children, Frank Burns Barnett; and son-in-law, Robert; Bender, M.D.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 1, 2017, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Ballinger, Texas at a later date.
