Annie Bell Allen of McKinney, Texas passed away June 23, 2017, at the age of 79. She was born January 21, 1938, to Porter Smith and Johnnie (Sweat) Smith in Allen, Texas. At an early age, Annie was accepted openly by Herbert Jones. She married Leroy Allen on March 26, 1956, in McKinney and to this union six children were born.
Annie accepted Christ at an early age at St. Mary Baptist Church in Allen, Texas. She later joined St. James CME Church in McKinney where she served faithfully until her health declined. If you knew Annie, then you know that she loved the Lord. This same love guided her daily and shared with her things to come. Though momma Annie had six children of her own, she was a mother figure to so many. She touched the lives of many people with her smile and generosity, and maintained her privacy and courage all the way to the end.
Although our beloved one has gone on before us, we were blessed to have had her presence as a beloved and devoted Mother, wife, devout prayer warrior as well as a committed servant in her church and community. In the 79 years that God allowed on Earth, we were equally blessed by her kind spirit, loving heart, and encouraging words of inspiration to all that she encountered. She was a caring soul who spent her life devoting her time and energy to her husband, family, friends and church.
Annie’s memory will live forever in the hearts of those who loved her most.
She is survived by her children, Pamela Allen of McKinney, Texas, Tammy Allen and husband Gary Butler of Allen, Texas, Ericka Allen of Carrollton, Texas, Eric Allen and wife Kevyn of Frisco, Texas, and Derrick Allen of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Abe Maurice Allen, Aaron Allen, Katlin Poole, Paige Allen, Taylor Allen, and Payton Allen; great-grandchildren, Evan Allen, Kai Chaney, Kaiden Thomas, Kaisley Williams; brothers, Herbert (Rebecca) Jones, John Jones, Billy Jones, George (Michelle) Jones, Zenford Jones, and Ralph (Rhonda) Jones; sisters, Beulah Shaw, Jewel (Curtis) Chappell, Carolyn (Willie) Johnson, Mary(Paul) Reddic, Betty (Ebby) Thomas, Linda Faye Jones; and other loving family members and friends.
Annie was preceded in death by her husband of thirty-six years, Leroy Allen; parents, Porter Smith and Herbert and Johnnie Jones; daughter, Annie Allen Clemmons; brother, Willie Jones; and sister, Thelma Hall.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 1, 2017 at St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church, 1308 Wilcox, Street, McKinney, Texas 75069. Interment is to follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Friday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
