Annette Clare Fitzbag, 67 of Whitewright, Texas, died Saturday, November 17, 2007 at Homestead of Sherman in Sherman, Texas. She was born September 25, 1940, daughter of Philip and Clare Garlow Rybke. She was the granddaughter of the Six Nations Indian Chief, Oneida, Mohawk, and German blood flowed in her veins. She married Dean Fitzbag on April 19, 1963 in Ithaca, New York. They were married for 44 years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Whitewright, Texas. Annette was always honest and true to herself. She was a stylish lady having great taste in clothes, hats and shoes. She loved shoes and sweaters having lots of them. She loved to shop, buying lots of things, vacuum cleaners, sneakers, outfits, and hats. Gardening was her hobby and passion. Because of her husband's hayfever, she would mow the lawn. She let it be known that this was a considerable contribution to the household. Then one afternoon, while she was mowing near the windows, one could hear her humming and singing above the roar of the lawnmower. She just loved being outside, planting, weeding and digging. When asked how she felt, Annette always answered, "fine". Even during the last year, she was “fine”. She was not sick. She just had a brain tumor. Up until four weeks ago she had not experienced a headache. On August 30, 2006 Annette had a brief seizure. Despite brain surgery, radiation therapy, and four rounds of chemotherapy, this was a very good year. She and her husband Dean spent more time together, traveling to various treatments and shopping since for much of the time, Annette could not drive. The strength of her character showed through. She remained optimistic and focused on family and others. We will miss her. She is survived by husband, Dean Fitzbag of Whitewright; daughter, Jill Fitzbag of Albuquerque; daughter, Christy Whitworth of Whitewright; granddaughters, Sarena, Kaleha, and Savana. She was preceded in death by parents; son, David Fitzbag. Memorial Services will be held 10:00 AM, Tuesday, November 20, 2007 at First Presbyterian Church, Whitewright, Texas with Rev. Mike Rutledge officiating.
