Anne C. Ferguson

Anne Celesta Base Ferguson was born February 9, 1935, to Clarence Lloyd and Meta Marie Louise Zobisch Base in Geary, Oklahoma. She passed away peacefully on May 19, 2007, surrounded by her family, after a long courageous battle with ALS. Anne graduated from Geary High School, received her BS degree from Oklahoma A&M (now Oklahoma State University) in Stillwater, Oklahoma, and later earned her Masters Degree from UT San Antonio. She began her teaching career in Denver, Colorado, then moved to Spain where she married Lee Ferguson and taught at the Air Force Base in Zaragoza, Spain. She then moved to Oregon where she continued her teaching career. In 1968 the family moved to San Antonio, Texas, and for 26 years she worked as a teacher and Certified Counselor at Harris Middle School, Mann Middle School, and Edison High School. She was also an Evaluator for the San Antonio Independent School District. In 1994, Anne retired after 38 years of work in education. In addition, Anne was a volunteer for Hospice at Santa Rosa Hospital and Methodist Mission Homes in San Antonio. Anne is survived by her daughter, LeeAnne and her husband Keith Grosnik of McKinney, Texas; her beloved grandson, John David Grosnik of McKinney; brothers, Zear Base of Donna, Texas and Mike Base and his wife Kaye of Geary, Oklahoma; sister, Claren and her husband Robert Kidd III of Norman, Oklahoma; and nephews and nieces, Shirley Lahti, Kathy Bradshaw, Deborah Coleman, Randall Base and Darren Base. She is also survived by many wonderful great-nieces and great-nephews. The family would like to thank Anne’s many friends and caregivers at Kingsley Place in McKinney, Texas and at American Hospice for their love and support. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, May 22, 2007, at 4:00 PM, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas with Rev. Doug Fox officiating.
