Anita Meyers Stover

Linguist, world traveler, editor, lawyer, voracious reader, volunteer, lifelong learner, loving mother and grandmother, Anita Meyers Stover died as she lived, dignified and peacefully at home on May 20, 2011. She was born in Amarillo, Texas on October 11, 1936. She grew up in Childress, Texas where her family moved when she was two years old. She graduated from University of Texas Law School in 1963, having earned a Bachelor’s degree in political science from UT. She graduated from Childress High School in 1955. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles W. Stover and her parents, Otto F. and Mary B. Meyers. She is survived by her children, Karl Stover and his wife Veronica Meza-Stover; Blin “Chuck” Stover; Marjorie Stover Lea and her husband Jeff Lea, as well as her grand- children, Sebastian and Amanda Stover, and Peyton and Prestyn Lea. Mrs. Stover retired from The Center for American and International Law, Plano as editor for multiple law journals. Prior to her career as editor, she had briefly served as the city attorney for the Town of Lucas, TX as well as teaching Spanish and English as a second language at McKinney High School for two years. Having moved to McKinney in 1971 with her husband and children, Mrs Stover was a 40 year member of St Peter’s Episcopal Church and was a long-time member of the St Peter Women’s Book Club. She was a volunteer for the Allen library “Chat” program, continuing her commitment to the multi-lingual community’s learning and comfort with English as a second language. Her family will receive guests in her home on Thursday, May 26 from 5 to 8 pm. Services will be at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 511 Foote Street, McKinney, TX, on Friday, May 27 at 2pm, followed by a committal of her ashes at the Ridgeview Memorial Park Mausoleum, 2525 Central Expy. N., Allen, TX. In lieu of flowers, her family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
