Amy Ruth Burkett Meek was born July 30, 1922 in Rosehill, Texas to Luther Burkett and Anna Lou Nicholson Burkett. She married Ralph D. Meek on July 28, 1939 in Grayson County, Texas. She died Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at Heritage Gardens Healthcare Center in Carrollton, Texas at the age of 90. She was a long-time resident of Luella, Texas.
Amy was a member of the Luella Baptist Church. She loved animals. She greatly loved her family and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by son, Charles Meek and wife Jackie of Tom Bean; daughter, Janet Hunt and husband Richard of Carrollton; daughter, Shirley Lanning and husband Gordon of Carrollton; grandchildren, Carmela Mechling, Jana Hunt, Amanda Richardson, Tracy Whitehead and Laorie LeMaster; 5 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Anna Lou Burkett and her husband of 54 years, Ralph Meek.
Funeral Services will be held 10:00 AM, Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel, Whitewright, Texas. Officiating the service will be Rev. Darrin Mechling. Burial will follow at Luella Cemetery in Luella, Texas.
