Mrs. Alma Louise Combee Smith Chesney, age 94, of McKinney, Texas passed away May 22, 2010, at her home. A good, very kind, loving mom, grandmother and faithful Christian woman has gone to her long rest. Her last hours were beautiful and touching, exemplifying the fullest Christian assurance and resignation. She planned her departure just as she would if about to start upon a journey, with a calmness and hopefulness that was most beautiful and impressive. She was born April 13, 1916, in Bloomdale, Texas to Lem Albert Combee and Loris Almeda Carrell Combee. On October 8, 1975, she married Luther Chesney in McKinney, Texas. She was a homemaker and a member of the Foote Baptist Church, now known as the Parkway Baptist Church. Mrs. Chesney is survived by her daughter, Delila Moorman of McKinney; grandchildren, Judy Boyd and husband, Ric of Garland, Texas, Stephen Moorman and wife, Marla of Celina, Texas, Sherman Moorman of McKinney, and John Moorman and wife, Ameena of Little Elm, Texas; 9 great grandchildren, Christy, Jessica, Elizabeth, Leah, Candice, Brice, Dustin, Robert and Ranah; great-great grandson, Keenan; brother, Ralph Reeder and wife, Edna of McKinney; stepchildren, Clyde Chesney and wife, Wynell of Mercury, Texas, Ruth Prince and husband, Jerry of Celina, Shirley Dunn and husband, Boyd of Dorchester, Texas; step son-in-law, Hubert Lowry of Prosper, Texas; and numerous step-grand, great grand and great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband of 32 years, Sherman Smith; her second husband of 23 years, Luther Chesney; son, Kenneth Lee Smith; stepdaughter, Janey Lowry; step grandson, Tim Rutledge; 2 sisters, 1 brother, and 1 stepbrother. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 25, 2010, in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience on Monday to pay their respects and to sign the register book. The family will receive friends for a visitation prior to the service Tuesday, beginning at 2:30 p.m.
