Alice Ruth (Shaw) Coulter, age 91 of Centerton, Arkansas passed away on December 19, 2009 in Centerton. She was born on November 3, 1918 in Pecan Gap, Texas to Zachary David and Sarah Edna (Cullum) Shaw. Alice graduated from Vernon High School in Vernon, Texas in 1936 and continued her education at Denton Teachers College. She went on to a successful 30 years teaching career. She married John Raymond Coulter in Riverside, California on May 9, 1942. While Alice and Ray had no children of their own, you rarely saw a picture of them without a child or animal posing along with them! They lived in Blythe, California for many years and retired in Centerton, Arkansas in 1977. Alice is survived by her brother, Zachary David Shaw II and his wife, Della Jane (Newburn) of Sebastopol, California; nephew, Donald Coulter and his wife, Phyllis of Frisco, Texas; Phyllis and Donald’s children and grandchildren. She leaves behind twenty-four nieces and nephews on the Shaw side of the family and too many greats to count. A Graveside Service was held at Little Elm Cemetery on Wednesday, December 22, 2009.
