Agnes "Aggie" Glenn McElroy

Our beloved “Aggie” departed this life on April 27, 2006, at the age of 90 years. Agnes was born in Grand Cane, LA to Jesse B. and Alma Gill. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BA from McKendree College in Lebanon, IL in 1958, and went on to obtain her Masters Degree from Trinity College in San Antonio, TX in 1962. Agnes devoted her life to her family and school children across the country. She retired after 25 years as a teacher and educator. Her last 15 years of teaching were at McKenzie Junior High School in Lubbock, TX. Agnes had been a long time resident of Lubbock, TX before moving to McKinney to be near her family for the past three years. Agnes is preceded in death by her devoted husband of 66 years Lt. Col. Edgar E. McElroy, 1 sister and 2 brothers. She is survived by her son Edgar E. McElroy, Jr. and wife, Sharon of Plano, TX, son Rick McElroy and wife, Lynda of Colleyville, TX, three grandchildren she loved dearly, Ron McElroy of Plano, TX, Donna Hatch and husband, Kevin of Allen, TX and Jason McElroy and wife, Ashley of Waco TX, and three great grandchildren she adored, Savanah, Nicole and Kyle Hatch. She is also survived by her sister Alice Pittman of Plain Dealing, LA, sister-in-law, Elizabeth Gill of Mont Belvieu, TX, 5 nephews, 2 nieces and a host of loving friends. Her sweet spirit will remain with all those who loved her and we will cherish her memory. Her family wishes to thank Dr. Christopher Lawrence and his nurse Alexia, the staff at Kingsley Place in McKinney, TX and Grace Hospice for their devoted care of Agnes. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 3, 2006, in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel with Mr. Mike Russell officiating. Interment will follow at 1:00 p.m., at the DFW National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
