Spencer Wayne Taylor
September 28, 1991 - August 13, 2007

Spencer Wayne Taylor, age 15, of McKinney, Texas, passed away on August 13, 2007 in Dallas after a very courageous battle with cancer. He was born September 28, 1991, in Midland, Texas to Gary and Rhonda (Gifford) Taylor. Spencer was a member of the McKinney North High School band where he played trombone and percussion. His hobbies included playing video games, listening to music and learning about WWII. His favorite times usually included eating pizza and just hanging out with his brother and friends. He wanted to fly his own airplane when he grew up. In Spencers short 15 years, he cast a light in this world that will forever shine. He lived his life with grace and dignity and showed us that in the face of obstacles-keep fighting and never give up. He is leaving a void in this world that will never be filled, but he’s now in his perfect place where he is taller than his little brother; he can run, jump and play soccer again if he wants; he can drive a Prowler and fly an airplane any time he wants, and he’s having the best pizza he’s ever had. Spencer is survived by his parents and his brother, Zachary; his grandparents, Sherry and John Gilmore of Hereford, Texas; Richard and Phyllis Taylor of Midland, Texas; Beverly Gifford of Amarillo, Texas. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and other loving relatives; and many, many friends. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Shelby Gifford. Funeral services to celebrate Spencer’s life will be held at 2:00 PM, August 17, 2007, at High Pointe Church of Christ in McKinney with Pastor Charlie Tuttle officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends during a visitation at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 9:00 PM. Memorials may be made in his name to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America, Gift Processing Center, PO Box 29119, Phoenix, AZ 85038-9119. The family would like to extend their thanks to Childrens Medical Center oncology staff for their compassionate care of Spencer. To convey condolences please sign his guestbook at www.spencerswebpage.com.

Dear Spencer Family, Please accept my deepest sympathy on the passing of Spencer. You have been and will continue to be in my prayers. I had the privilege and honor to have Spencer as a student in 8th Grade Science. He had a great mind for science and was truly admired by his peers. Over the course of our year together I became a student of Spencer's. His greatest lesson to me was the day he asked me if I would be attending the Relay for Life. His simple question made me understand that giving serving others does not stop at my classroom door. Thank you for giving me that gift Spencer. From one pilot to another, remember to keep the blue side up. With deepest sympathy, Frank Spina

Spencer and I were really good friends in the trombone section at North. He was a really important part of our band, and he was always encouraging, and always had a smile on his face. He was a really good friend.
- Josh Rand
Although I did not know Spencer personally, he was in the trombone section with my son, Josh, and McKinney North. The one thing I remember about Spencer was that even though he did not march with the band, he was always at every practice, and every game and contest in uniform. What dedication and integrity! An inspiration to all! He will be missed. Our prayers go out to you and your family.

- Dan and Michelle Paxton
Though I never met Spencer,I have known him through the spark in his dad's name at hearing his name. Gary has born the sorrow and weight of walking with his son down this long and difficult journey. I can only imagine the raw pain of seeing your child sick. Gary, you and Spencer have given me the gift to make each day the most it can be. Spencer, you and your family are in our prayers as you have been every night.
